Atmospheric Sciences Invitation to 2017 JpGU-AGU Joint Meeting

Dear AGU Atmospheric Sciences Members:
I would like to draw your attention to the following announcement of the first joint meeting of the Japan Geoscience Union (JpGU) and AGU, to be held 20–25 May 2017 in Chiba, Japan. The theme of this joint meeting is “For a Borderless World of Geoscience.”

For Atmospheric Sciences, sessions will cover all aspects of atmospheric dynamics, physics, chemistry, and coupling with other climate subsystems on daily to climate change timescales. I encourage you to participate in this exciting joint meeting by submitting a session proposal as a convener, and/or submitting an abstract as a presenter. Submission for session proposal is already open, and will close on 13 October 2016, 5:00 p.m. Japan standard time. Abstract submission starts 6 January 2017.

JpGU–AGU Joint Meeting 2017
20–25 May 2017

The Japan Geoscience Union (JpGU) and AGU are pleased to announce that as a part of our partnership, we are moving forward with an exciting multiyear meeting collaboration. AGU and JpGU will hold jointly sponsored sessions at each society’s meeting.
In May 2017, JpGU and AGU will hold the first joint meeting of the two societies covering all areas of the Earth and space sciences, as well as having over 50 sessions presented in English for interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary scientists. The meeting will be held in Japan and is forecast to have 7000–9000 scientists attending from around the globe. Student travel funding will be available for these meetings. The theme for this meeting is “For a Borderless World of Geoscience.”
Session Proposal Deadline: 13 October 2016, 5:00 p.m. Japan standard time
AGU members: To submit a session proposal, follow these steps:
  1. Click the Propose a Session button above and log in to your AGU account. If you are not a member in good standing, you will be prompted to join AGU or renew your membership.
  2. You will be passed to JpGU’s website, where you will be asked to register for or confirm your JpGU ID. When you do this, you will receive two emails at the account associated with your AGU ID, one containing your JpGU ID and another containing your JpGU password.
  3. Log in to the Session Proposal system at with your JpGU ID and password to start submitting.
